Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you might want to know about working with Brother's Tree & Land Clearing — pricing, scheduling, storm response, service areas, and more.
Below are the questions we get asked most often — organized by category. Don't see your question? Just call 904-718-6306 or send us a message and we'll get you a quick answer.
General & Company
General & Company
Yes — Brother's Tree & Land Clearing is owned and operated by Troy Jowers, Jr. Every call gets answered by family. Every quote comes from someone who'll actually be on your property when the work happens.
Yes. Fully licensed and insured in the State of Florida — general liability and workers' compensation on every job. Ask to see the paperwork anytime.
Three reasons: you'll work directly with the owner, you'll get honest pricing without sales-team markup, and the same crew that bid your job will be the ones doing it. Local accountability matters in a service business.
Brother's has grown from a single truck and chainsaw to a multi-crew operation serving all of Northeast Florida. Tree work and land clearing aren't side gigs for us — it's what we do, full-time.
Yes. Residential and commercial both. We work with builders, developers, property managers, HOAs, and commercial property owners across NE Florida.
Pricing & Estimates
Pricing & Estimates
Yes — every estimate is free and no-obligation. We come out, walk the property with you, and give you a written price. If you don't move forward, that's fine.
Most tree work is priced per-tree based on size, type, access, and what's nearby (houses, lines, fences). Land clearing is priced per-acre. Stump grinding is priced per-inch of diameter or per-stump for bulk jobs. Dirt work is hourly + materials. Every quote is written and detailed — no mystery line items.
For larger jobs (typically $2,500+), we may take a small deposit when scheduling. For most residential work, no deposit is needed — payment is due on completion.
All major credit cards, checks, cash, and electronic transfers (Zelle, Venmo for smaller jobs).
No — the written quote is the price you pay. The only way the price changes is if we discover something during the work that significantly changes scope, and in that case we stop, tell you, and you decide whether to go forward.
For some small jobs (single stump grind, simple debris pickup), yes. For tree removal and land clearing, an on-site walk gives you a real number — you'll always get a better quote in person.
Scheduling & Response
Scheduling & Response
Most quotes go out within 24 hours. We respond to phone calls during business hours (Mon–Sat 7am–7pm) and return text messages and emails the same day or next business day.
Typical scheduling is 1–2 weeks for routine work. During hurricane season and after major storm events, we can book further out. Emergency work skips the queue.
Call 904-718-6306 directly. For true emergencies — tree on house, blocking driveway, immediate safety hazard — we'll respond same-day even outside business hours.
Yes. Text 904-718-6306 with photos and a description of what you need — that often gets you a faster, more accurate quote than a phone call alone.
Not always. If your trees or work area are clearly visible and accessible from the front, we can do an estimate without you home. For backyards, gated areas, or anything requiring us to walk inside the property line, you (or someone authorized) needs to be there.
Not for most jobs. Many of our customers are at work during the workday. We bring our own crews, our own equipment, and we don't need power or water access for most jobs.
Storm & Emergency
Storm & Emergency
For emergencies — trees on houses, blocked driveways, immediate hazards — we work to get to your Jacksonville-area property the same day. Call 904-718-6306 directly for fastest response.
Yes. We provide written documentation, photos before/after, itemized invoices, and detailed work descriptions for insurance claims. Many of our storm-cleanup customers file claims successfully.
Call us first, then call your insurance. We can come stabilize, tarp damaged areas, and get the tree off the structure safely. We work with insurance documentation for cleanup costs.
We're active in NE Florida year-round, including hurricane and tropical storm response. During major events, we work straight through cleanup until everyone's served.
Late spring / early summer is the best time to do pre-hurricane prep — pull deadwood out of canopies, reduce wind load with proper thinning, and remove any obviously hazardous trees before they become projectiles.
Licensing & Safety
Licensing & Safety
Yes. Brother's Tree & Land Clearing is fully licensed and insured in the State of Florida — general liability and workers' compensation on every job. Ask to see the paperwork anytime.
We work to ANSI Z133 tree-care industry safety standards. Our crews are trained in proper rigging, sectional removal, climbing, and ground operations.
Our general liability insurance covers any property damage from our work. We carefully tarp roofs, mark sprinkler heads, and protect what we can before starting — but if something does go wrong, we're insured and we make it right.
Yes. Some municipalities in NE Florida require tree removal permits for certain species or large trees. We can advise on what's needed and help pull the permit when required.
Service Areas
Service Areas
Jacksonville and all of Northeast Florida — Duval, Clay, St. Johns, and Nassau counties. See our Service Areas page
for the full list.
For larger jobs, possibly. Multi-acre clearing or large commercial jobs in surrounding counties may be feasible depending on travel and scope. Ask us.
Yes — both. Residential is our bread and butter, but commercial, HOA, builder, and property-management work is also major parts of our business.
